What is CODESYS?
A vendor-independent IEC 61131-3 development environment, used as the base for many manufacturers including Beckhoff, WAGO and Schneider.
It is the practical reference for the standard: what works in CODESYS is usually closest to the literal text of IEC 61131-3. Its free edition lets you learn and simulate with no hardware.
Anyone who learns ST in CODESYS moves easily to TwinCAT and EcoStruxure, because the editor and the block and instance concepts are the same.
