II 2GATEX marking (group & category)Category 2: high protection · gas
dbProtection typeFlameproof enclosure
An internal explosion is contained and cannot propagate
ebProtection typeIncreased safety
Construction that prevents sparks and excess heat in normal operation
IICGas / dust groupGas group IIC: hydrogen, acetylene (most severe)
T4Temperature classMax surface temperature 135°C. Suits gases with a higher auto-ignition temperature
GbEquipment protection level (EPL)gas · high
Permitted zones:Zone 0Zone 1Zone 2Zone 20Zone 21Zone 22
Educational and first-pass checking only. It does not replace the device certificate, the area classification study or IEC 60079.

Paste the marking exactly as printed on the nameplate. The tool breaks down the ATEX part (e.g. II 2G) and the IECEx part (protection type, gas group, temperature class, EPL) and shows the permitted zones.

Rule of thumb: the zone sets the required EPL; the gas sets the group and temperature class. An IIC device also covers IIB and IIA; a T4 device suits gases auto-igniting above 135°C.
