What is Edge computing?

Processing data close to where it is produced, on site, instead of sending everything to the server: filtering, calculations and local decisions.

One example is a deadband algorithm: a reading is only sent when it changes by more than a set amount, cutting data volume sharply without losing anything important. In HS-IIoT it cut network use by 90%.

Edge computing also keeps the site running when the link drops.
